Telling: Streams & Logs

Poetry

the big wind

when the big wind comes
let go of the door jam
let go the door
and the knob that fits so sweetly
in the cup of your hand

let go the toothpicks and darning needles
the safety pins and scotch tape, superglue,
the contracts signed and the promises unspoken

let go

let go of everything you know to be true
the corner nothing bends around,
the acceptable edge

let go of what you meant to do
and what you meant to say,
what has been and
what might have been

let go of everything preserved
under glass, in ink, knotted string,
the scar tissue, habit, the song

let go the secrets you are keeping
and the expectation of punishment
or reward

let go let go
and you will find
the light

inextinguishable
